Selfcare is HARDWORK, yep I said it! It ugly and boring at times. I know it is. You know how it goes, we settle back into the same old routines - why? Because they are familiar and comforting - even though they make us feel 'less than great'. We run back to the way things were. Old routines are like your friend’s sexy ex, who they know they should keep well away from, but just can’t. 🤷♀️
Change works best when it’s gradual and it's not easy. So, to begin with, know what the 6 Segments to Successful SelfCare are. Which do you want to start with?
HAPPY LOOKS BEAUTIFUL'S 6 SEGMENTS TO SUCCESSFUL SELFCARE.
1. SELF CONNECTION
2. TIME OWNERSHIP
3. MIND MANAGEMENT
4. BOUNDARIES
5. CREATIVITY
6. SURROUNDINGS
There is no order to the 6 segments. They interweave and overlap but they are all equal. In'ts personal whoch segment to work on first, it depends on you and where you are at. One segment may be more significant to you at a particular time in your life, depending on what is going on for you and where you are at in your selfcare journey. Just like the weather our lives also have seasons. So if you are feeling as though your need to take care of yourself more, want to up your self-care or find ways to let go, you probably need to focus on one or two of these areas. Working 1-2-1 on the HLB programme is brilliant way to work through some of the issues to help you feel less fatigued and more prioritised.
Studying selfcare has been one of my passions, some would say my calling. Whoop whoop!!! I live and breathe it. It brings me much joy. Do I still struggle sometimes? Definitely. Is it easier with a roadmap? Hell yessss! With certain tools in place you bounce back so much quicker!
After much discovery, I had to unlearn a lot and realised that when I had these core areas in check, then I was fully caring for myself. Sometimes it just one area that is mis- aligned and thats the area that we would work on. Each section encompasses ways to re-dress balance and create pockets of rest and restoration. So that you are self preserving and self nourishing more.
I have designed a programme for clients that incorporates an exploration of each of these segments to get them back on track and taking better care of themselves. Each segment was discovered as part of my own personal SelfCare journey and from interviews with women hundreds from around the world, who have mastered SelfCare and some of those just at the beginning of their SelfCare journey.
